Richmond and Danville Railroad Ticket

A ticket for a seat on the Richmond and Danville Railroad issued on March 29, 1865, during the last days of the Civil War, bears the signature of a Confederate official. Less than two weeks later, Confederate general Robert E. Lee would surrender his troops at Appomattox. This ticket was kept by Corporal Thomas Colley, Co. D, 1st Virginia Cavalry, and was later found amidst his papers.
