Men in cowboy hats attend to a woman in distress in this illustration by F. Graham Cootes publshed in Harold Bell Wright's best-selling novel The Winning of Barbara Worth (1911). Set in the American Southwest, the book was later adapted into a silent film starring Gary Cooper.
