Frances Farmer

Frances Farmer, then the senior cataloguer at the University of Virginia law library and executive secretary of the law library committee, smiles in this snapshot taken in her office about 1942 to 1944. Farmer became the law librarian in 1945, and eventually was granted the rank of full professor, making her the university's first woman law professor. This image is included in the papers of Frances Farmer that are housed in the Arthur J. Morris Law Library at the University of Virginia School of Law.
