George Washington’s Engraved Nameplate

A brass nameplate engraved "Genl Washington" came from a campaign trunk that George Washington used during the American Revolution. This artifact was unearthed during archaeological excavations that took place between 1990 and 1993 at Mount Vernon's South Grave midden, or trash dump.
