The Speech of William H. Brodnax, (of Dinwiddie) in the House of Delegates of Virginia, on the Policy of the State with Respect to its Colored Population.

This is the title page of a printed version of the speech William H. Brodnax delivered to the House of Delegates on January 19, 1832. The speech, which concerned the "policy of the state with respect to the colored population," characterized slavery as a pernicious influence—"a mildew"—on Virginia. Though Brodnax owned slaves himself, he advocated the gradual settlement of slaves in Africa.
