Beakers Owned by William and Rebecca Gooch

This pair of beakers, fashioned out of sterling silver and silver-gilt, is engraved with the Gooch family coat of arms. Made in London about 1735 to 1736 by the silversmith Sir William Sleath, the beakers were purchased by Sir William Gooch while he was serving as lieutenant governor of Virginia.
