Secretariat Owner at Belmont Stakes

A snapshot taken at the Belmont Stakes on June 9, 1973, shows Helen Bates "Penny" Chenery Tweedy, the owner of the thoroughbred Secretariat, at center, in profile. Secretariat won the race that day by thirty-one lengths and set a record for time (two minutes twenty-four seconds) on the 1.5-mile dirt track, clinching the Triple Crown.
