Secretariat Wins the Belmont Stakes

The thoroughbred Secretariat, ridden by the jockey Ron Turcotte, streaks across the finish line at the Belmont Stakes on June 9, 1973. Secretariat won the race that day by thirty-one lengths and set a record for time (two minutes twenty-four seconds) on the 1.5-mile dirt track, clinching the Triple Crown.
