Cotton Gin Patent

These are Eli Whitney's original schematic drawings for the cotton gin, a machine he invented to remove seeds from cotton bolls. Whitney filed for a patent and submitted these drawings on June 20, 1793, and the patent was granted on March 14, 1794. Whitney's invention revolutionized cotton production and created a vast new market for enslaved labor.
