Yorktown During the Civil War

This photograph of a street in Union-occupied Yorktown in 1862 depicts clusters of soldiers along the right side, and a group of African Americans, at left, lined up at what appears to be a public well. At least one of the men at the well wears a Union kepi (a military cap).
