Mural Honors Country Music Sessions in Bristol
A modern mural commemorates the Bristol Sessions that took place from July 25 to August 5, 1927, in Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee. The Victor Talking Machine Company brought a field unit to that mountain town that straddles the Tennessee-Virginia border and recorded, for the first time, the legendary country musicians Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family. Other artists were recorded as well, and a follow-up session took place in Bristol from October 27 to November 4, 1928.
