Mary Aggie's Pardon

At a May 1731 executive session of Virginia's governor's Council, the "Christian Slave" Mary Aggie is pardoned after having been convicted of stealing from her owner, a crime which ordinarily would have doomed her to death or severe corporal punishment. This 1930 transcription was made by the Virginia State Library from the original eighteenth-century records.
