James Hubert Price

The official gubernatorial portrait of James Hubert Price, governor of Virginia from 1938 to 1942. Price spent his term in office advocating a series of policies designed to alleviate the economic hardship brought upon the state by the Great Depression. By 1940, his progressive agenda had been largely derailed by Senator Harry F. Byrd Sr. and his powerful political machine.
